Thank you, too, to the Legislature, agencies, and courts for keeping us busy.

Finally, thank you Jennifer Brown Shaw, the best employment lawyer, partner, and friend one could hope to have.

Happy 7th Anniversary to Shaw Valenza LLP

It seems like only yesterday that Jennifer Shaw and your humble correspondent started our firm.  (Of course, some days it feels like our 80th anniversary.)   Thank you to everyone who made it possible for us to be here for seven years!

The blog's about 7 years old too.  574 posts and at least that many page views.  We hope the information has been helpful, Dad. I kid, I know there are at least four non-relatives who read the blog too.  And thank you as well.

Shaw Valenza just celebrated its sixth anniversary on 6/19/06.  That means it's been six years since we started this blog. So, more than 500 posts after we began, we thank you once again for reading, commenting, and forwarding our posts.

HAPPY 5TH ANNIVERSARY TO SHAW VALENZA

We made it 5 years! So, this is going to be one of those self-promoting / congratulatory posts.... 

We opened our doors 6/19/06. And we started this little blog thing of ours on 6/26/06.  Seems like it was just yesterday. And by "yesterday" I mean Saturday, 20 years ago.  

We've been so fortunate to work with great people and organizations.  We wanted to honor our clients in some way to thank them for our success. But many are not local, and many have anti-gift policies now. So,  rather than throw a party or send gifts, we made a donation to Guide Dogs for the Blind.  Yes, you can call them to make sure.

We have a terrific team of lawyers and non-lawyers in our Sacramento and San Francisco offices.  Since they are local and certainly have no non-gifting policies, we celebrated with a dinner.  We also thank our departed staff and lawyers, who helped us in our formative years.  We hope you had dinner somewhere equally wonderful.

Speaking of offices, we just moved to new space in Sacramento (980 9th St., Ste. 2300, if you are planning on, you know.....visiting.  Or visiting. 

Our "refreshed" website will roll out imminently, as will our new Facebook presence. It seems Facebook and Twitter may have replaced blogging as a medium for timely updates. But we're stubborn and committed, and somewhat retro. So, we will press on here until we are posting to an empty room.  In case you prefer Twitter, go here.  And we're putting the finishing touches on our Facebook page.  So you will be able to "like" us to your heart's content. We are nothing if not accessible.  And wordy.

So, thanks for hanging in there with us for these 5 years, loyal clients, and the other readers (yes, Dad, I mean you. And happy father's day, by the way).

Happy Anniversary to Us (Again)

Yes, it's a slight detour into self-indulgence. Thank you for your patience.

So, four years ago, two wide-eyed kids, with barely a tuna sandwich and $3.00 between them, decided to stake out their little corner of the American Dream and start a small business of their own.... Oh, and Jennifer and I started Shaw Valenza four years ago today, too! What a coincidence! (I hope those two scrappy kids made it.)

Anyhoo, after perfectly timing our decision to start a business a few months in advance of the worst time to start a business in history, we're grateful to still be here. We know why we made it, too. Coffee and toner? Sure. But we're also thankful for our clients, prospective almost-clients, and even former clients, who have made our survival possible. We are grateful to our colleagues / co-workers / employees, who have helped us flourish. Thank you, too, to our vendors and everyone else who have helped us along the way. And a big thanks to the courts, legislatures, and regulators, who continue to provide us with an ever-expanding, confusing, and conflicting body of employment laws!

By the way, SV's 4th anniversary also means that this blog celebrates its fourth year of existence. This is post number 368, and I've enjoyed every one of them. So, thank you, adoring public, for reading along with us. :::echo....echo....echo....::::

HAPPY 3D BIRTHDAY TO US!

Yep, it's that time of year when we issue a self-congratulatory Happy Birthday! As the venerable and respected advocates for less fortunate wine coolers, Bartles & Jaymes (LLP) once said, "Thanks for your support. "

And this means that next week will be the third anniversary of this blog! (Unsubscribe now -before the obligatory "Happy Anniversary to WNIEL" post).

Oh, and if that weren't enough, we just won a 3 year old trade secrets case! If you haven't sent us an appropriately lavish gift by now...
